Netflix Is Back Up on PS3, PSN Still Down psn outage netflix

Well PSN may still be down, but Netflix is now working. When you load the app it will ask you to sign in and then inform you PSN is under maintenance. After that you can stream all the “Salt” you want.

UPDATE
Some users are claiming Netflix was never down for them, but last night I definitely could not use it. It would demand I login to PSN and after I tried there would be an error message, not maintenance, and backing out of the message only brought me back to the login page. Netflix was loaded in the background, but there was always a login page in front of it.

Yay…. finally.. A sign of good things… I’m not home to test this myself…. I’ll take ur word for …

    • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

      Took the picture myself!

      • abdullah

my netflix was working for a few days then it stopped i would get to the get a movie page but when i click on it the sign in comes back up and it tells me to try again later this was happening for the past 3 days so far which makes my ps3 100% useless

        • imsohigh

my netflix don’t work either. i’m able to go on netflix but when i try to watch a movie it says i need to be logged in and to try again later…some bulllshit!

          • sam

have you figured out this issue…iam having the same issue myself.
            thanks
            -sam

    • sam

did someone figure out how to fix this….iam still unable to make netflix work.
it used to work without psn login but now it keeps prompting me when i select a movie from netflix…unable to stream at all.
      thanks
      -sam

      • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

That sucks, man. Shouldn’t be happening at all. Good news PSN is supposed to be back “this week”.

  • M.Hamilton

    Netflix was never down….

  • MR_GET_IT_IN

That’s cool and all but netflix dissapoints me with thier hd streaming options…..seems like old movies get the hd while newer ones don’t. Take Prince of Persia for example, (i have never wanted to see it and still haven’t) why is that not hd? Like you said though this is a sign of psn coming back soon, i guess I can play some more 3d dot heroes, demons souls, ff13, me2, nba2k11, red dead redemption…….see what I did there go play some single player games and take it back to late 80′s early 90′s and quit yer bitchin about not being able to play with imaginary friends.

  • ABC

Bullshit, Netflix DOES NOT work…if you go past the “PSN is under maintenance” message, it just tells you “We’re unable to connect you to Netflix, try again later” over and over again…

    • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

The picture I took this morning seems to point otherwise.

      • ta

did u watch a movie or take a picture where u can pick the movie

        • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

          Both

    • imsohigh

i agree happens to me too

  • Chelsii Wilks

Perhaps only certain models/connection set ups can?

    • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

Who knows. I know for certain mine didn’t work last night or the night before and this morning it had a different response to me trying to login and is working fine.

  • Chelsii Wilks

I have an American account… however, due to my -inferior- UK PS3… i can’t enjoy this ‘Netflix’ :(

  • lashes2ashes

netflix had always worked without sighing in. i have always just backed out of the log in and watched netflix sometimes it takes a couple of tries

  • TheGamingArt

It’s been up the entire time. It’s always asked you to log in. You just keep hitting submit.

  • Dr.Ska-Ctopus

If it didn’t work for you before today then you did it wrong. I was on while PSN was down, before I knew PSN was down.

  • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

I know of several people, including myself, who have not been able to use Netflix during the outage no matter how many times it asked us to login and yet you guys say you haven’t had any trouble. Very strange.

    • Chelsii Wilks

only certain models/connection set ups can? lol like i said

    • Levi

Ya i haven’t been able to use netflix at all, it actually just started working yesterday for me.

  • Sion MiDa

Originally worked for me until last night. Now I have the same problem with not being able to back out of the login.

  • CrazySouthernBoy

It does work If I was back at my place I would use my PVR & make a video for you

  • Sion MiDa

I used to get through even after the crash. But now when I get through to netfilx, every time I try to play a video it ask for my psn account and when it fails to connect it says something like “Netflix is unable to connect to the psn network at this time. Please try again later “

  • Vincent

It doesn’t matter how you do it. Sometimes it stops asking, and sometimes it doesn’t. It’ll lock you out when the video starts buffering. (Maybe Sony uses PSN for random usage statistics or something?) Videos and screenshots prove only that the issue goes away intermittently, so don’t bother.

    • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

I’ve used it the last two nights a ton with no issues. I would definitely encourage at least trying.

      • Vincent

I was telling people not to bother providing “proof” that Netflix works. There are times when the prompt doesn’t go away regardless of what you do. Netflix has their own servers and authentication, so I’m not sure why PSN is involved in the first place.

        • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

My thoughts were that Netflix does require being logged into psn unless psn is under maintenance. If psn just gives an error code instead of saying “under maintenace” then you can’t get in.

That’s what I think was going on for me a couple of days ago. I always got an error code and now its always “under maintenance” and still works. That’s been my experience.

          • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

Perhaps sony is doing things that are effecting how psn replies to login attemtps and its throwing off netflix?

  • RT

I agree with Chelsii – certain models/connection set ups may make a difference. For the past 4 days, I was able to use the workaround (signing in and clearing error messages multiple times until it worked).

Today, I’m getting a brand new error message I’ve never seen before! When I click on Netflix, the error message says PSN log in required. Netflix won’t even load at all. It forces me to push “PS” to quit Netflix. (Pushing “X” or “O” does nothing at all. I’m not even given an opportunity to enter sign in information anymore.)

The good news is: I see a brand new interface for PSN. Obviously, Sony is doing something, even if it’s still down.

    • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

      Brand new interface? Elaborate please.

      • Chelsii Wilks

Most likely, a brand new PSN

        • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

Crazy talk. Id bet they are just being very thorough in fixing the holes hackers used and made.

          • Chelsii Wilks

            You’re crazy. :(

    • Vincent

You may not have seen it before, but that error message isn’t new. For some reason it doesn’t always trigger.

  • Chelsii Wilks

Just read the update by Sony that a certain number of accounts that All the required PSN registration data has potentially been stolen.
Along with Credit Card & Purchase History information…

My Q is… has all 70 million of us… had our data stolen…?

If so, we’re all pretty much (Pardon My German) Fucked.

  • CrazySouthernBoy

Yeah, The dev Accounts are the ones they wanted but from what I heard Sony Deleted the Dev Accounts & made new ones.

    • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

      I heard that as well.

  • ps3 user

my guess is who ever has that fat ps3 wont be able to watch a movie. and who ever has the slim ps3 could. i have both ps3′s and i’m only able to watch movies on the slim. and on the fat ps3 it says to try again later?

  • vbm

how long do u think psn will be down for?

    • http://twitter.com/shane_ngr Shane Craig

Check the newest article on the front page.

  • C

I was able to watch Netflix by ghetto-rigging it like you said you were up until two nights ago. Then it freaked out asking if I was still a member and made me sign into my netflix account again and now it boots me with the ‘you must be logged in to access netflix’ or whatever. This is so lame.

I only use my netflix through the PS3 network (obviously on the TV) since my laptop won’t run silverlight since they upgraded it (and Netflix hasn’t, or vice-versa).

LAME. That’s all I have to say about this.

  • http://netflixisbackuponps3,psnstilldown imanigga

yo u all those hackers there from mississippi

  • http://netflixisbackuponps3,psnstilldown imanigga

for those hackers that done this to psn, is because it make them feel better , all i can se is that they just piss off 7.7 mil people, they do it just because they want us to feel useless , they just hurt 7.7 mil without thinking f,,, you hackers, you truly are low life ,AND THAT,S THE TRUTH,

  • Dagoberto

I think this is bullshit, for the PSP the PlayStation Network recognizes i have a account making me think is all good then a error pops up telling me a been signed out with a stupid code…

  • Marcia

After talking to one of the folks over at Netflix, it is Sony that requires the Netflix login. Also, we were unable to login to Netflix for several days after doing the Sony update. That, in a nutshell, shuts you out of using netflix. So, the workaround is….create a new PS3 account. We are now happy Netflix watchers again. Best of luck!
