Alan Wake finally breaks the 2 million sold mark xbox 360 steam Remedy Microsoft Games

It’s been a really good couple of weeks for the guys over at Remedy. Firstly, the XBLA offshoot Alan Wake’s American Nightmare received positive reviews, and now the original Alan Wake has hit two million sales.

When Alan Wake hit Steam on Feb. 16, it had only sold 1.2 million units, meaning that the jump from console to PC almost doubled its user-base.

After the release of Max Payne all the way back in 2003, work was started on Alan Wake, which for many didn’t sell as well as it deserved, making times difficult for the developer. But after the recent spike in sales, Remedy Entertainment is in high hopes.

Remedy’s head of franchise developer Oskari ‘Os’ Häkkinen told CVG,

Alan Wake’s like a cult classic if you like … People who have played and enjoyed the story feel the urge to tell their friends and other gamers out there that they need to try this experience, they need to play it.

Alan Wake is definitely very close to our hearts. It’s our IP — we own it. It’s not something that we’re going to forget very easily.

Whilst his comments might not officially confirm the existence of a fully fledged Alan Wake sequel, there is a distinct tone of wishing to do more with the franchise. For now, anyone who has been drawn in by the series’ dark tones and intriguing brand of horror will have to wait in anticipation for any word on Alan Wake 2.
