Day 1 of Molyjam has come to a close, and it’s undoubtably been an eventful day.
Whilst there’s not much to cover on the game development side — apart from a few prototyping sessions — there has still been a lot going on.
Firstly, some of the major Molyjams are being livestream’d, which will no doubt be interesting to see, as developers and designers get more frantic towards their deadline.
Secondly, something awesome happened today at Molyjam London — Peter Molyneux turned up. Not only to inspire the troops to make the best possible game in under 48 hours, but also to wax lyrical about the concept of his new studio, 22Cans. Peter talked not only about the process of making games, and the rhetoric behind simple yet effective games design, but also his personal and studio concept of creating “one successful, brilliant, world-changing thing [at a time].”
The live stream for Molyjam London is sleeping for the night, but you can still watch footage from other Molyjams or follow the news on whatwouldmolydeux.com. For now, I’ll just leave you with Peter’s talk, to inspire the gamejamers, whilst giving his opinion of where the industry is travelling.
