For a console that started at $400, to be profitable at a 75-percent price decrease is pretty impressive. That is what Microsoft aims for today, with a new program to target all of those holdouts.
Starting this week, you can buy an Xbox at the Microsoft Store for $99 with a two-year Xbox Live subscription at $14.99 a month. So, by the end of those two years, you’ll have paid a grand total of $459.75. So, really, this price-drop test program isn’t a fantastic deal, especially since you can find Xbox Live subscriptions for much cheaper in bundles.
However, $99 is an incredibly tempting price point … if you don’t think about the repercussions.
