E3 – Liveblogging the Ubisoft Conference

4:20 PM PDT – That is it, Ubisoft is going to have a good couple of years. And WOW I want Watch Dogs NOW.

4:19 PM PDT – It has a name – Watch Dogs, and wow!

4:15 PM PDT – Well this certainly is new. I’m willing to bet it’s next gen.

4:12 PM PDT – Open world by the looks of things. Interesting tone.

4:09 PM PDT – Ooh, new IP. Scary new IP, centralised data and data theft. This looks exciting.

4:07 PM PDT – And free to play games, Ghost Recon: Online, etc.

4:05 PM PDT – Talking about building communities; Trails, The Settlers

4:02 PM PDT – I don’t see Shootmania becoming big on the world circuit, looks very much like a clone of UT in terms of style. Not sure if gameplay style can be modified.

3:58 PM PDT – It’s male vs female gamers, Elite mode for Shootmania.

3:56 PM PDT – Talking about E-Sports. Shootmania.

3:54 PM PDT – Fighting on both sides, British and American as well as against animals, spanning 30 years. The Assassin’s Creed Team has outdone themselves.

3:52 PM PDT – Climbing is vastly improved, far more agile than in previous games.

3:51 PM PDT – Combat looks far more fluid, and more enemies on screen

3:45 PM PDT – Assassins Creed 3 new cast, Ben Franklin, George Washington, looks like there will still be climbing, but this time on mountainsides. Nice change of scene from the warmth of the Mediterranean.

3:42 PM PDT – AC3 trailer, “Liberty and Justice, but for who”, very topical.

3:40 PM PDT – Sorry for the delay, we’re having minor issues. More Wii U stuff, YourFittness, etc etc

3:38 PM PDT – Zombie title for the Wii U, God Save the Queen is playing. It’s clearly set in England, and looks horrifying, i’m really intrigued. It’s called ZombiU

3:36 PM PDT – Audio design is really impressive, the entire crowd is on it’s feet.

3:31 PM PDT – Rayman Legends, for Wii U. They’re using touch screen controls, it all looks really accurate, shame no multitouch. Looks like the best parts of iPad control and consoles, tickle me excited.

3:29 PM PDT – Marvel:Avengers Battle for Earth up next. On the Wii U.

3:25 PM PDT – Talking about Splinter Cell:Blacklist, single player, co-op, Spy vs Mercs. And Sam’s spy gear looks more advanced than ever.

3:22 PM PDT – I’m feeling a lot of similarities between Far Cry’s baddie and The Joker. And apparently it is open world, I was wrong.

3:18 PM PDT – Gameplay demo in Far Cry 3, the foliage looks amazing, there’s going to be a lot of comparison between trees in Far Cry and Crysis, but I think Far Cry wins. Levels look a lot more linear than Far Cry 2′s island. The game looks considerably better than last year’s showing.

3:14 PM PDT – New Far Cry Trailer, now with boobs. It appears that you’ve become a master of the wilds, better than where you were at last year’s E3.

3:11 PM PDT – And Toby Turner and Aisha Tyler are hosting, this could go brilliantly or horribly.

3:09 PM PDT – Oh Ubisoft there is no need for this – Bye bye Flo Rida, you’ve spent enough time on stage.

3:07 PM PDT – It’s starting… with Just Dance

3:00 PM PDT – Well… Ubisoft is running late.

2:54 PM PDT – Just seen more info on Splinter Cell:Blacklist, 4th Echelon will travel around the world with Sam as the Blacklist attempts to create havoc worldwide. As per usual everything is on Sam’s terms, with gameplay that is very similar to Conviction.

2:50 PM PDT – Ten minutes to go, the conference should come in at a little under an hour, there is a lot of talk about casual games, stay with me, we can both hope there’s something new here.

2:30 PM PDT – In just under 30 minutes the Ubisoft Conference will start. Somethings are a given; Assassins Creed 3 and Far Cry 3, but everything else is still kept secret. I’m personally expecting a lot of downloadable games, and several mentions of Wii U. I know I’m not the only person hoping for Beyond Good and Evil 2, but that’s a pipe dream at this point. (Well we can dream). Oh oops, I forgot, and Splinter Cell.
