A few days ago, a supposed internal document was leaked from Microsoft, and posted online. You can find the article here. For those lazy people, the document talked about where Microsoft would be going after the 360. Dated August 2010, it detailed the Xbox 360 successor having a Blu-ray player, true 1080p output and a supposed “6x performance increase.” Whatever that means. It also talked of a sequel to the Kinect, with more precise tracking and inclusion in the base system package. Finally, there were Kinect glasses, which seem to serve a similar purpose to the tablet screen in the Wii-U. It allows different players to see different items in games.
Anyways, multiple news outlets contacted Microsoft for a response, and Eurogamer was the first to be successful. According to Microsoft:
“We understand there is great interest and anticipation for what comes next for Xbox and we are lucky to have customers who are so passionate about the platform. Today, there has never been a better time to own an Xbox 360 console. We have found new ways to extend the console lifecycle by introducing controller-free experiences with Kinect and we’ve re-invented the console with a new dashboard and new entertainment content partnerships. We are continually thinking about the future of the platform and when we have something to share, we will.”
Well, at least they didn’t deny it. Maybe Xbox 720 at E3 next year?
