A week or so ago Overkill announced a crossover between Left 4 Dead and Payday, the video showed the Hospital from the no Mercy campaign and the video itself was tagged with ”Have you ever wondered how the Left 4 Dead series began? It started with a heist!”. So a misunderstanding was inevitable and people began to think it was the prequel to Left 4 Dead, which for fans of the series I imagine is pretty exciting.
Sadly it is not the case, the map is not a canon part of the L4D storyline but merely a bit of fun, or so Valve seem to be saying. ”This is a 100 per cent Overkill made mission for Payday: The Heist simply set in No Mercy hospital from the Left 4 Dead series,” Valve’s Chet Faliszek told Kotaku.
Although it may actually be some sort of non-canon story where the Payday group manage to cause the whole ordeal, as the mission operator says in the video below, they are after a man’s blood who has been taken to quarantine. Whatever it is, the video is below for you to watch and make your own opinion of.
