Just prior to E3, LucasArts announced that a new Star Wars game was being developed for consoles. Prior to the conference, there had been rumors of a sequel to Battlefront, something that diehard fans have been craving for years. However, these rumors were proven false, at least until the next E3. While that is sad to hear, it has paved the way for a brand new IP that looks to bring a new kind of action to the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars 1313 is an attempt to bring a mature storyline to Star Wars, something which hasn’t really been seen since Star Wars: Bounty Hunter or The Force Unleashed. The folks at LucasArts hope to “bring to life the Coruscant underworld,” which sounds like a most intriguing concept.
Level 1313 is a place where the most ruthless prisoners are held, and 1313 will put gamers in control of “deadly bounty hunter”as he uses all sorts of exotic weaponry to hunt down his target and find the truth of a secret conspiracy. This definitely sounds a lot like Bounty Hunter, with its focus on weapons and gadgets instead of Force abilities.
The trailer below highlights the gunplay and cinematic nature of the game, which definitely calls to mind the Uncharted series. Especially the ending section, with its climbing elements. Even if it borrows some elements from Uncharted, it’ll be the story that is pivotal. If LucasArts can make a game that draws both the hardcore fans and casual movie goers, there’s recipe for unparalled brand success here. And if the folks at Lucasarts can pull it off, it looks like Star Wars 1313 will be an exciting adventure through some of the deeper mythos of the Star Wars universe. And really, some combination of those words is never a bad thing.
