Microsoft has purchased ownership of several domains related to the term “Xbox 8.” Back in May, Microsoft filed a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum to gain control over sites owned by a Chinese citizen named Cheng Juan. Now, Microsoft has won the dispute, giving the company control over Xbox8.us and Xbox8.org, in addition to various other Xbox related domains: XboxPhone.com, XboxTablet.com, XboxLiveTV.com and XboxCompanion.com.
For those who remember things, Xbox 8 was a previously rumored name for the next-gen version of the 360, along with codenames Loop and Durango.
Xbox 8 seems especially likely seeing as how Microsoft is currently in the process of launching Windows 8. Another rumored Xbox codename, Xbox Infinity, could also make sense with the Windows 8 moniker as the symbol for infinity is, of course, an 8 turned sideways.
