Doom 4 will support Oculus Rift VR headset vr headset virtual reality oculus rift kickstarter doom 4 doom 3

Just a few days ago Kickstarter did its thing and made someone’s dream a reality. The thing is, this persons dream appears to be from the early 90′s. The modern version of the VR headset has arrived and its name is Oculus Rift. The aforementioned combines a 1280×800 viewing area with head tracking technology. The device appeared on Kickstarter asking for the measly sum of $250,000 and is now siting about $1,000,000 north of that. We already knew that the headset had the backing of some guys at iD, like Cliff Bleszinski and John Carmack because every dev kit will include a copy of Doom 3: BFG.

We now know, however, that the iD support runs much deeper. “I’m excited for once Doom 3 ships, and gets out there, I’ll put all this stuff into the Doom 4 platform, which will be nice to take our current top-of-the-line stuff and have that in virtual reality,” id’s John Carmack told Polygon at QuakeCon. “I’m looking forward to doing that.”
