Today EA held its Summer Showcase event and they used the occasion to give some much needed detail on the state of some of its biggest sports franchises on Wii U.
Firstly, EA announced that their beloved footy franchise, FIFA 13 would be launching with Nintendo‘s Wii U. The game will feature several Gamepad-oriented control tweaks called Team Management Control in in which players can perform substitutions, select formations, and control individual players. Shaking the GamePad activates the game’s Touch Screen Shooting, a strange feature that turns the game into something more akin to an iPad game where you control your shot as it heads towards the net.
A Wii U version of Madden NFL 13 was also briefly detailed. Developed by EA Tiburon, the game will be shipping with many of the same features we will be seeing in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Wii U player will be getting Total Control Passing and the game’s improved “read and react” defensive AI. What will set the Wii U version apart will be the ability to call plays, manage players and make pre-snap adjustments via the touch-screen on Wii U’s Gamepad. Madden 13 will launch with the Wii U later this year.
