Some fairly unsurprising news came out from Famitsu today, with Nintendo confirming that the Wii U will be region locked. This is following a recent Nintendo tradition of region locking both the Wii and the 3DS.
This may be disappointing news to fans of JRPG’s because, while not at launch, some games take a long time to be ported to North America and Europe and some don’t get ported at all. A recent, non-Nintendo, example would be the Persona 4 golden release.
A translated quote from Famitsu on Twitter read:
The Wii U launches in America on November 18th and Europe November 30th.
